Overview
The Zeta Kappa Chapter of Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. is committed to fostering academic excellence and empowering students to achieve their educational goals. As part of this mission, the chapter offers a local scholarship to support deserving students in their pursuit of higher education.
This scholarship is designed to assist high school students (9th-12th) and college students who demonstrate outstanding academic performance, leadership skills, and a dedication to community service. The Zeta Kappa Chapter seeks to recognize individuals who embody the values of Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc., including excellence, service, and personal growth.
Applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements, which may include a minimum GPA, enrollment at an accredited institution, and residency within the chapter’s designated area. Additionally, students are often required to submit an application, an essay, letters of recommendation, and proof of extracurricular involvement.
By awarding this scholarship, the Zeta Kappa Chapter aims to alleviate some of the financial burdens associated with higher education while encouraging students to continue striving for success. Through this initiative, the chapter reaffirms its commitment to uplifting future leaders and making a meaningful impact in the community.

Nomination Process
Eligibility
1. High School Local Scholarship (Grades 9th - 12th)
2. Collegiate Local Scholarship (Undergraduate)
Nomination Submission
Nominations will only be accepted through the online nomination form. The nomination form link will be available on the Zeta Kappa Chapter’s website starting March 12, 2025.
Information Required To nominate a candidate for the Zeta Kappa Local Scholarships, please provide the following information:
Nominee’s Information:
Name, email address, phone number, grade, and school name.
Required Attachments:
Official Transcript
Attach a transcript signed by a school counselor or administrator (digital signatures are acceptable).
Transcript must include seven semesters of coursework, senior year first-semester grades, and ACT/SAT scores.
Essay
Attach a typed essay (maximum 300 words). Topic details provided below:
Essay Prompt: What motivates you to achieve academic success, and how will this scholarship help you achieve your future goals?
Statement of Need
Attach a typed statement (maximum 100 words) explaining your financial need, background, and future aspirations.
Letters of Recommendation
Submit two letters of recommendation:
One from a school official.
One from a public service organization or a church outreach program.
Letters must be on official letterhead and signed (digital signatures are acceptable). Letters should be sent directly by the recommender toscholarships@zetakappa1929.org.
Community Service Activities
Provide a description of your community service activities (outside of regular church functions).
Examples include tutoring programs, feeding ministries, leadership camps, mentoring initiatives, or special church committees addressing social issues (e.g., homelessness, breast cancer awareness).
Supporting Documentation:
A professional headshot of the nominee, relevant publications, or any materials that demonstrate the nominee’s contributions and achievements. Also parental consent if they are a minor.
Promotion
Nominations will be promoted on the Zeta Kappa Chapter’s social media platforms throughout the nomination period to encourage wide participation and recognition of outstanding candidates.
Selection Committee
A committee of members from the Zeta Kappa Chapter will review all submitted nominations. The committee will evaluate nominees based on:
Leadership in business and professional excellence
Contributions to community development and service
Mentorship, advocacy, and role as a positive influence to others
Dedication to maintaining high ethical standards
A
